Overview:
Halifax Health is seeking a Genetics Navigator for our Center for Oncology Department.

Summary:
Provide genetic counseling for individuals/families at risk. Develop Genomics Program, including clinical and operational goals, in collaboration with physician, nursing manager and service line director. - Identify and engage the team of core team members who will be working with the Genomics Program. - Monitor program quality on an ongoing basis and support all components of program marketing. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Job Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Genetic Counseling from an American Board of Genetic Counseling accredited training program or an equivalent program approved by the ABGC or the ABMG. -Clinical genetic counseling experience is preferred, but new graduates are encouraged to apply. -American Board of Genetic Counseling- Board Certification/Board Eligible within 1 year of graduation from an accredited training program. Full Genetic Counselor License for the State of Florida required or eligible -Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work as part of multidisciplinary team.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides on-site and telemedicine genetic counseling services to individuals and families within the context of the Cancer Service Line's genetic clinics for adult patients according to best practice standards and guidelinesCompletes related tasks including medical documentation (elicitation, compilation, and interpretation of medical information pertinent to the patient culminating in the writing of reports), ordering/coordination and interpretation of appropriate genetic tests, provides information (risk assessment and recommendations for care and surveillance), in accordance to the NCCN when appropriate and other standards of care, to the individual and/or family regarding medical diagnosis and test results, and facilitation of appropriate referrals and psychosocial assessment/supportParticipates in multidisciplinary cancer case conferences within Halifax Cancer CenterMonitor program quality on an ongoing basis and support all components of program development and marketing
