The Agency for Health Care Administration is Florida's chief health
policy and planning entity. The Agency is responsible for
administering the Florida Medicaid program, the licensure and
regulation of nearly 50,000 health care facilities, and empowering
consumers through health care transparency initiatives.
Under the direction of Agency Secretary Jason Weida, the Agency is
focused on advancing Governor DeSantis' vision for Florida's health
care system to be the most cost-effective, transparent, and
high-quality health care system in the nation. Current Agency
initiatives include implementing Florida's groundbreaking Canadian
Prescription Drug Importation Program, overhauling Florida's
healthcare technological ecosystem, and increasing insight in the
cost of health care services.

Description:
Participates in surveys and complaint investigations of health care
and residential facilities in a seven-county area to determine
compliance with federal and state regulations. Overnight travel is
involved. Must be able to work occasionally before and after normal
work hours, including weekends and holidays. Applicants may reside
in any of the seven counties: Duval, Baker, Nassau, Clay, Flagler,
St. Johns, and Volusia. Statewide travel may also be included for
this position.
Nursing Home, Hospital, ESRD and/or Home Health experience
preferred.
As assigned by management, this position is required to
successfully complete the Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test
within the first 12 months of employment as required by Sections
1819(g)(2)(c)(ii) of the Social Security Act, as amended, and
Article IV(B) of the Agreement pursuant to Section 1864 of the
Social Security Act.
The incumbent must be proficient with computer equipment and
software programs, such as Microsoft Word and Outlook, as well as
smart phone technology.
The incumbent must also be available to work before and after
normal work hours including weekends and holidays.
A COMPLETE BACKGROUND SCREENING INVESTIGATION IS A CONDITION OF

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the principles of nursing practice, state licensure
and federal certification requirements.
Knowledge of inspection of care process.
Skills are needed in the technique of oral communication,
especially attentive listening; interview procedures; methods of
documentation review, and investigational techniques.
Ability to plan and organize is required to ensure timely
completion of survey responsibilities.
Ability to utilize microcomputer equipment and software to enter,
retrieve and manipulate data required to perform licensure and
certification functions; ability to write reports.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Ability to work occasionally before and after normal work hours,
including on weekends and holidays.
Registered Nurses shall earn not less than 12 hours of required
continuing education credits in geriatric care prior to
professional licensure renewal.
Must successfully complete Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test
within first 12 months of employment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with
Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance
with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.27 and three years of
professional nursing experience, including one year of professional
experience in a specialty field as determined by the employing
agency.
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a
major in nursing or a related field can substitute for one year of
the required general professional nursing experience.
A master's degree from an accredited college or university in
nursing, nursing education, public health, or a related field can
substitute for two years of the required general professional
nursing experience.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with
Chapter 464, Florida Statutes or eligible to practice nursing in
accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.22 or 8.27 or
Certification as a Physician's Assistant in accordance with Chapter
458, Florida Statutes.
