Job Description Job Description Job Function: This passion
driven leader oversees the operations, coordination, and planning
of the Resources and Recreation Center. The coordinator will take
the lead in ensuring that the rules, policies, and procedures of
the Resource and Recreation Center are implemented consistently on
a daily basis. The coordinator will spearhead initiatives to create
and provide a diverse range of programs and opportunities aimed at
enhancing the lives of children and providing resources to members
within the community. This role entails supervising staff and
establishing measurable outcomes for their growth and development.
Additionally, the position involves cultivating and expanding
community partnerships that enhance the influence of Parks and
Recreation on the community. Essential Duties: Direct operations of
the Resources and Recreation Center. Create and maintain staff
schedule for the Resources and Recreation Center. Establish,
maintain and follow rules, policies, and procedures specific to the
Resources and Recreation Center. Leader, mentor, and authoritative
figure for the youth who utilize the Resources and Recreation
Center. Managing the rental and facility use of outside
organizations. Ensuring facility setup and needs for rentals and
outside organizations. Define clear goals, plan programs to achieve
those goals, and consistently measure evidence of success related
to the Resources and Recreation Center. Develop and grow community
partnerships that contribute to the impact Parks and Recreation has
on the community. Implement established Program Quality Standards
and participate in the ongoing development of those standards.
Ensure program retention and growth. Nurture children by designing
lesson plans with purposeful programming that develops
social-emotional skills, fosters achievement, supports academic
growth, and provides enrichment. Contribute to the branding and
marketing efforts of the Recreation division. Serve as a backup to
the Resources and Recreation Center Supervisor on regular
communication, building relationships with customers of the
facility, school principals, parents, and community members.
Provide an exceptional customer service experience, with the
ability to remain calm under pressure, de-escalate tense
situations, and resolve child, parent, staff, and administration
issues. Proactively identify and mitigate risk in daily operations.
Ensure the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities,
grounds, and equipment, including keeping supplies organized,
clean, and well maintained. All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to think, analyze,
organize and articulate ideas and strategies independently.
Willingness to work diverse hours. Good judgment under pressure,
with the ability to make timely, sound, and informed decisions
Ability to manage priorities and workflow, with strong
organizational, problem-solving and time management skills.
Communication skills to inform and educate staff and
members/participants. Organizational skills to meet deadlines and
handle multiple tasks. Skilled in operating general office
equipment such as a computer, copier, facsimile machine, and
calculator. Proficient in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn
new software quickly. Skilled in planning, directing, organizing,
and reviewing the work of staff and their work projects. Ability to
communicate understandably and concisely both orally and in
writing, and to understand instructions, policies, and other
direction in both oral and written form. Ability to interpret the
needs of the community’s citizens and groups for parks and
recreation services and programs; commitment to fostering an
inclusive and collaborative work environment. Spanish language
ability is a plus but not required. Bilingual candidates are
encouraged to apply. Required Qualifications: Associate’s degree in
early childhood development, Recreation Programs or Recreation
Management or preferred. However, an equivalent of two years in a
leadership role may substitute a degree if in managing recreation,
community/educational programming. Minimum 2 years of experience in
staff supervision and leadership required. Complete the required
National Incident Management System (NIMS) training within 6 months
of completion of probationary period. Must possess a valid driver’s
