The Agency for Health Care Administration has now approved skilled
nursing facilities to use Personal Care Attendants
(PCA) to perform resident care procedures currently
delivered by Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA). The goal is to
provide nursing centers with additional staff to care for residents
during State of Emergency and to train new workers to obtain skills
necessary to become a CNA. The Personal Care Attendant Program is
an 8-Hour Pre-service Course with continued on-the-job
We are currently accepting applications for (Non Licensed) Personal
Care Assistants to work in our Skilled & Long Term Care
We are currently offering the AHCA approved PCA training course
followed by the comprehensive on the job training for the right
individuals. You will work in our facility side by side with our
licensed CNA staff under the direction of our nurses while
performing Activities of Daily Living tasks for our residents. Some
of the skills you will learn and be responsible for are (but not
Performs lifting and transfer duties safely and uses appropriate
techniques and body mechanics when performing job duties.
Use of a gait belt and assisting with ambulation as needed
Helps with specialized assistive devices; e.g. Hoyer lift, board,
Assists individuals with daily personal hygiene, oral hygiene,
dressing, toileting, repositioning
Assists with eating, passing trays and ice water as needed
Observes and reports intake of fluids and food and frequency of
elimination if indicated.
Make an Occupied or Unoccupied bed.
Checking vital signs
Observes and monitors the client’s condition, notifying staff RN /
LPN of any significant change in client’s status.
Provides documentation as needed and attends necessary
Complies with Indigo Manor Policies and Procedures and all
applicable laws and regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned
Once you have completed your PCA on the job training you will have
the skills necessary to challenge and pass the Certified Nursing
Assistant state exam. Passing the Florida CNA Exam is a requirement
of the job for continued employment.
Must be 18 years of age or older with some previous Home Health,
Med-Tech, DSP or PCA experience preferred but not required
Must be able to pass a Drug Screen & Level II Background Check
Must be dependable and reliable while maintaining a strong work
Must be willing to take and
pass the state C.N.A exam within 3 months (90 Days) or less (WE
WILL REIMBURSE YOU FOR THE COST OF YOUR TEST)
