Job Description:
Operate one or more computer numeric or numeric control machines
to perform drilling, reaming, tapping, milling, boring, and other
machine operations over various surfaces, diameters, and depths.
The positioning in all axes and the changing of preset tools are
preprogrammed to follow the pre-established methods automatically.
The setups on some jobs are complicated and require milling to
close tolerances. The operator must determine the proper operation
sequence and select and adjust tools in adapters and mounts in the
storage matrix (drum).
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other
duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION
--- Ability to read blueprints, process documentation, and inspect
measuring devices.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,
operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively communicate information with managers and
other employees, both orally and in writing.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of
measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as rate, ratio,
interest, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability
to apply concepts of introductory algebra.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding carrying out
instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability
to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in
standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly
required to stand, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach
with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee must frequently

required to sit, climb, or balance. The employee must frequently
lift and move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to
50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by
this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to
adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is
occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The employee
is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, humid conditions,
fumes or airborne particles, flying metal burrs and chips, and
possible chemical irritants such as water-based coolants, hydraulic
oils, de-greasing soap, and mineral spirits. The employee is
occasionally exposed to uncomfortable colds or heat. The noise
level in the work environment is usually loud.
