Classification Title: Medical Director (Assistant, Associate,
Full Professor) Job Description: The Department of Ophthalmology at
the University of Florida seeks a Medical Director for the UF
Health Eye Center to build, advance, and elevate the strategic
vision of the department. This position combines direct patient
care service with leadership responsibilities in support of
ophthalmology clinical programs. Candidates should be eligible for
the clinical faculty rank of Assistant Professor or above and
demonstrate experience with and commitment to advancing clinical,
surgical and educational excellence within an academic medical

. The Medical Director will be a member of the ophthalmology
faculty and work closely with the department chair, executive
management team, and institutional leadership to implement
strategies that enhance patient care and improve the medical
practice. Responsibilities include the provision of healthcare
services and teaching during clinical encounters and surgical
intervention for ophthalmologic patients as well as administrative
duties to steer operations and support the organizational functions
of the eye center. Applicants will engage in a busy tertiary
clinical practice in an established longstanding department with a
new, state of the art clinic and surgery center. In addition to
providing excellence in patient care, ample opportunities exist to
develop independent and collaborative research and innovative
education models in a varied academic clinical department. Salary,
rank and tenure status will be commensurate with credentials and
experience. The College of Medicine has a competitive faculty

Requirements: Clinical requirements include a medical degree
(M.D.). Completion of an ACGME approved ophthalmology residency
program as well as applicable postgraduate fellowship training if
practicing a relevant subspecialty. Board certification or
eligibility and the ability to obtain licensure to practice
medicine in Florida are prerequisites. Incumbent will be
credentialed as medical staff to provide patient care services
within UF Health facilities and affiliated locations. Must be
eligible for the rank of Assistant Professor or above and
demonstrate experience with and commitment to advancing clinical,
surgical and educational excellence within an academic medical
center. Preferred Qualifications: Qualifications, in addition to
clinical expertise, include a strong commitment to teaching,
resident training, and research as well as participation in
academic activities. Excellent verbal and written communication
skills along with strong interpersonal skills are important.
Superior leadership qualities enhanced by superb judgment,
problem-solving and cognitive skills are desired. Special
